The CCSD is pleased to share that Alabama’s annual back-to-school sales tax holiday will be Friday, July 21 through Sunday, July 23. The state will waive its 4% tax on school-related supplies and clothing. Some cities are also waiving the local taxes too. The tax-free weekend allows for purchases of pencils, calculators, binders, and other essential school supplies without a sales tax. Items include clothing priced at $100 or less per garment, school supplies priced at $50 or less per item, books that cost $30 or less and tablets, laptops, computers and printers that sell for costs of $750 or less. You can view the full list from the Dept. of Revenue using this link: https://www.revenue.alabama.gov/ultraviewer/viewer/basic_viewer/index.html?form=2023/03/2023-Back-to-School-Sales-Tax-Holiday-Fact-Sheet.pdf Please remember to try to shop local whenever possible. #ChambersCounty

Today the 11th graders took the ACT State Assessment. They were off to a great start with a hearty breakfast cooked by the lunchroom staff provided by Chosen Generation. The test was so long but the students did soooo good. I'm looking for a lot of high scores. Powell Chapel P.H.Y.R.E supplied the pizza and soda for lunch. Thanks DJ Michael Floyd for providing music. It was supposed to be a kickback but Mother Nature wasn't playing with the wind🤣🤣🤣 So I told the students I owe them one. Thank you everyone who donated $$$ to make this happen for our students. We appreciate you!!!👏🙌

The Chambers County School District is announcing plans to implement a delayed start for Thursday, March 2, 2023. All schools in the district will have a two hour delay on Thursday morning. The purpose for the delayed start will be to provide everyone across the district the opportunity to support the Valley High School Varsity Boys Basketball Team in their Final Four State Championship Semi-Final appearance. The Class 5A undefeated Valley Rams will make their appearance at the Legacy Arena in the BJCC located in Birmingham on Wednesday, March 1, 2023. The semifinal matchup is the last game on the slate for the day with game time set for 7:30 p.m. CST or 8:30 p.m. EST. The Central Division VHS Champions are paired up against the Scottsboro Wildcats who were the winners of the Northeast Regional in Jacksonville. This is the Rams first return trip to the Final Four since 2001. It is our hope that all of Chambers County will be able to make it out to Birmingham to support one of our teams on Wednesday evening! Please note that breakfast will not be served on Thursday morning. Tickets can be purchased via the Legacy Arena at the BJCC’s Central Ticket Office or via Ticketmaster’s online platform at https://www.ticketmaster.com/ahsaa-basketball-state-finals-birmingham-alabama-03-01-2023/event/20005D810626C7A3 Please note the following policies and information regarding 2023 State Final Tickets: · All single tickets are $12.00 with a $1.00 venue fee, plus any additional service fees. · All single day tickets are for general admission seating as there will be no reserved seating areas within the Legacy Arena for this event. · All single day tickets are good for all games on the day the ticket is purchased for and used. MAKE SURE YOU SELECT WEDNESDAY, 3/1/23 · There are no “pass out” privileges.
